Top College Hoops Player Props on Friday, March 29: Will McCain and Duke Upset Houston?

Happy Friday, everyone! The Sweet Sixteen is back in action tonight, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Last night’s games provided a lot of excitement, besides the UConn game, of course, which ended up being a blowout.

From a player props perspective, we only hit on one of our four picks from last night, mainly due to some poor shooting performances. We’re confident in our picks for tonight’s action, however, and are looking to sweep Underdog’s board after a poor showing yesterday. Let’s get into it!

DJ Burns Jr. OVER 14.5 Points

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you’ve likely heard DJ Burns’ name or seen a highlight or two. Burns has taken the NCAA world by storm, helping lead NC State to the Sweet Sixteen.

As he looks to help will his team to the Elite Eight, look for Burns to have another great night of scoring. He has scored 24 and 16 points in his last two games, respectively, leading us to believe that he can throw together a similar output against Marquette.

Marquette has allowed an opposing player to score at least 20 points in both of their tournament games, indicating they have had a tough time stopping the best players they’ve faced, yet another example of why we’re taking the over here.

Zach Edey OVER 13 Rebounds

Until Zach Edey has a bad game in the tournament, we’re taking the over on his rebounds, no matter who the opponent is.

Edey is an absolute beast down in the paint, and while he might not be the most graceful player on the court, he can certainly use his height to his advantage and take control of the glass.

Jared McCain OVER 13.5 Points

Jared McCain might be a TikTok star, but it turns out, the kid can ball as well. McCain put up 30 points against JMU in the round of 32, making an even more impressive name for himself.

Duke is on a roll, and with McCain receiving a lot of media attention and admiration, we believe he’ll stay in the spotlight and have close to 20 points tonight.

Ryan Kalkbrenner OVER 8 Rebounds

Ryan Kalkbrenner has been a big part of Creighton’s run to the Sweet Sixteen. Will they make their way past Tennessee tonight? That remains to be seen.

But if his rebounding prowess continues into this matchup, he should hit the over on his line with ease, which is why we’re taking it tonight.
