Fantasy News for NFL Week 13

Major returns, major setbacks. With playoffs just around the corner, fantasy owners will be scrambling this week to fill major holes in their lineup as they make their final pushes for league championships this week.

Which players should fantasy owners target? We’ll reveal that and more in this edition of Fantasy News for NFL Week 13.

Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor To Miss 2-3 Weeks

On Tuesday, the Colts announced that RB Jonathan Taylor will be sidelined yet again this season, this time missing at least two games due to thumb surgery. The 24-year-old runner logged 100 carries this season, converting those into 414 rushing yards and four TDs.

Fantasy Impact: Add RB Zack Moss to your lineups. After back-to-back poor showings against New England and Carolina, Moss returned to relevance Sunday against Tampa Bay. The four-year veteran notched 55 rushing yards on eight carries and 15 receiving yards on two receptions, making him the prime candidate to absorb Taylor’s workload over the next two games.

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Returns From IR

In a remarkable turn of events, QB Aaron Rodgers was activated from the Injured Reserve (IR) list Wednesday by the Jets. That means that Rodgers has a 21-day window to return to playing in a season where he ruptured his Achilles during the season-opener.

Fantasy Impact: Fantasy owners should store Rodgers away if he’s still available in your league. Owners should bet that if Rodgers returns to the field this season, he’ll be looking to prove he’s more than capable of being a fifth-time MVP candidate. Managers should consider Rodgers a championship gamble should their current QB be unable to play.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins Could Return on MNF

After a three-week hiatus, Cincinnati WR Tee Higgins is expected to return Monday when the Bengals play against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Higgins – whose hamstring injury occurred in Week 10 – has sat for multiple weeks, but HC Zac Taylor suggested earlier this week he could return as early as Week 13.

Fantasy Impact: Minimal, unfortunately. Instead of catching passes from QB Joe Burrow, Higgins will be targeted by backup Jake Browning. Burrow underwent surgery on his right wrist and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season.

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones Could Return Sunday

After sitting last week, Green Bay could see RB Aaron Jones return to the field this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones sat out of the Packers’ Wednesday practice, tempering expectations that the knee injury he sustained against the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks ago.

Fantasy Impact: Green Bay re-signed RB James Robinson, added insurance for the Packers this week. In Jones’ absence, AJ Dillon has posted a mere 72 yards rushing on 28 carries and netted 70 yards receiving on seven receptions. Adding Robinson makes sense, especially if Jones is unable to return against the Chiefs.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert Could Return for 49ers

With the mega San Francisco-Philadelphia game on the horizon, the Eagles could have an offensive weapon return for the anticipated matchup. A report out of Philadelphia suggests that TE Dallas Goedert will “push to play this weekend” for the Eagles.

Fantasy Impact: Goedert’s return would give Philadelphia a big offensive weapon against the 49ers. On the year, Goedert is the third-leading receiver for the Eagles, notching 38 catches for 410 yards and two TDs. Fantasy owners should temper their expectations, however, as Goedert has been sidelined since the team’s November 5 game against Dallas.
