This week we’ve been pouring over tons of stats for the upcoming 2025 MLB season to see what players are going to be big draft picks for fantasy baseball. Spring training is just weeks away, and if you’re like us and want to build a championship fantasy baseball team, third base is a position you need to get right. There’s plenty of value in this spot that you won’t want to pass up.

The hot corner has a decent mix of power hitters and all-around producers who can fill up multiple stat categories and you can get them later in the draft as well. Whether you're looking for the long bombs, RBIs, or even some consistency, these are the best 3Bs to target in 2025.

1. José Ramírez (Cleveland Guardians)

Ramírez remains one of the most dominant third basemen in fantasy baseball so it’s no wonder that he’s topping our list of 3rd basement fantasy picks.

In 2024, he put up a respectable .279 batting average with a hefty 39 home runs, 118 RBIs, and 114 runs on top of that. His .872 OPS ranked 12th in baseball which goes to show that he's still an elite hitter.

What makes Ramírez a top-tier fantasy option is his consistency. He played 158 games, collected 173 hits, and had 39 doubles to boot. He contributes in every major offensive category you can think of which makes him one of the safest picks at 3B.

At 32, he’s getting a bit older but still performing at a high level. Typically the number of games played starts dipping at this age, but not for Ramírez. If you’re looking for a proven star who will produce in all fantasy formats, Ramírez is your guy. He’s 5th overall in the MLB, so he might be a tough one to get if you don’t get him in the first round.

2. Rafael Devers (Boston Red Sox)

Devers remains one of the best power hitters at third base.

He hit .272 with 28 dingers and 83 RBIs in 2024, finishing with a strong .871 OPS which was good for 13th in MLB. His ability to hit for both power and average makes him one of the best fantasy options at the position. On top of that, there are some good bats in the Red Sox lineup this year which will help him out with his runs and RBIs.

Durability is a slight concern, as he played just 138 games last season. But when he’s on the field, he’s electric and a difference-maker. His 34 doubles and 87 runs scored show he’s more than just a home run hitter — he’s a well-rounded offensive weapon that can produce in all fantasy formats.

If you want a 3B who can hit 30+ home runs and provide steady run production, Devers is one of the safest picks in the draft. He’s easily a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

3. Manny Machado (San Diego Padres)

Machado had a strong 2024 season, though he was a bit streaky. Regardless, he's proving he’s still one of the best third basemen in the game.

He finished the year with a .275 batting average, 29-yard bombs, and 105 RBIs. His .797 OPS wasn’t what we’d call elite, but still respectable. His ability to drive in runs keeps him among the top fantasy options.

Machado also played 152 games, showing his durability at the age of 32. His 77 runs and 30 doubles added even more value, making him more than just a power hitter but a well-rounded hitter as well.

Despite his age, he’s still a reliable option at third base. If you need a steady bat who can hit for power and rack up some RBIs, we think Machado is a solid choice.

4. Jazz Chisholm Jr. (New York Yankees)

Chisholm is an interesting fantasy pick heading into 2025.

This young stud hit .256 with 24 home runs and 73 RBIs last season. His .760 OPS wasn’t all that great, but his power-speed combo makes him valuable in fantasy baseball. He’s not a superstar on the basepaths as he racked up just 18 stolen bases last year, but those just add to his ceiling.

Chisholm played 147 games, racked up 144 hits, and scored 72 runs. That’s not bad. The biggest concern we have for him is his strikeout rate — 152 strikeouts in 562 at-bats. He can be a bit aggressive at times. However, if he improves his plate discipline, he could take a step forward in 2025.

Playing in an insanely stacked Yankees lineup, he should get plenty of chances to drive in runs and cross the plate on his own. He’s a high-upside pick for fantasy managers willing to take a bit of a risk in some of the later rounds.

5. Austin Riley (Atlanta Braves)

Riley had a down year in 2024, but he’s still a valuable fantasy option heading into this season.

He hit .256 with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs, both lower than we expected him to get. His .783 OPS ranked 14th among third basemen which tells us he still has pop in his bat.

The biggest concern is his health. At 27 he’s right in his prime, but he played just 110 games last year. If he stays healthy in 2025, he should bounce back — especially in Atlanta’s powerful offense.

If you’re looking for a mid-round pick with bounce-back potential, Riley is definitely worth taking a look at. He’s proven he can hit 30+ HRs in the past, and a healthy season could put him back on track to be among the top fantasy third basemen.

Third base has plenty of decent fantasy picks for 2025.

Ramírez is undoubtedly our top pick as he provides elite power and consistency. Devers is easily a strong second option, while Machado remains a steady run producer year after year. Chisholm offers some exciting upside and we think he’ll be even better this year, Riley is a bounce-back candidate with tons of power potential.

As spring training begins, keep an eye on injuries and lineup changes. Even moves in other positions can have an impact on how these players will shake out in 2025.
