NBA Player Prop Picks for Friday, December 29
We put together our favorite Friday Underdog NBA prop slate of the year for the final Friday of 2023. While RJ Barrett should struggle against the surging Magic, look for Domantas Sabonis to dominate Atlanta in a favorable matchup. Good luck with your picks!
G RJ Barrett (NYK) UNDER 16.5 PTS
Let’s hold on the “Bing Bongs” today. RJ and the Knicks face an Orlando team that is 11-4 at home, allowing 107 PPG in the Kia Center this season. As for Barrett, he’ll go up against Jalen Suggs and a ferocious Magic backcourt that matches well with their length.
With the Duke alum shooting just 40.5% away from home and scoring 17 points or more just once in the last five outings, bet against the Knicks swingman today.
G Cam Thomas (BKN) OVER 21.5 PTS
The flamethrower is back in our Underdog slate on Friday night as the Nets take on the 5-25 Washington Wizards. Thomas matches up well against the opposing backcourt of Tyus Jones and Jordan Poole, as the Wiz are allowing a league-high 126.8 PPG this season.
While Thomas has hit this over mark in just three of his last seven, the awful Wizards’ defense should allow for backcourt scoring from Brooklyn in this one.
G Tyus Jones (WAS) OVER 1.5 STL (1.5x)
Sticking with this game, our first Underdog-boosted bet goes to Tyus Jones to snag 2 or more steals. In a game where we expect Cam Thomas to emerge as the leading scorer for Brooklyn, we can also expect him to turn the ball over a fair amount.
When scoring 22 or more points in December, Thomas turned the ball over 2 or more times in each outing. The last two times Jones had a game with 2 steals, he followed it up with another outing with 2 or more.
F Domantas Sabonis (SAC) OVER 0.5 TD (2x)
The Atlanta Hawks are a bottom-five team in offensive rebounds per game and assists allowed per game. This is the perfect combination for Domantas Sabonis as he looks to notch his fourth triple-double in the last six outings.
With Atlanta allowing the third-most PTS+REB+AST per game this season, bet on Domantas to turn in an elite performance.
F Harrison Barnes (SAC) OVER 1.5 3-PT MADE
Believe it or not, Harrison Barnes is a better bet away from home than in Sacramento. The veteran swingman averages 0.7 more 3PM in away games this season, as both Murray and Huerter are more efficient at home.
With our Sabonis bet needing this game to become high-scoring, Barnes is just another beneficiary of the Hawks’ defense allowing massive performances to opposing playmakers.
