Top NBA Player Prop Picks for Friday, January 5

After the highest-scoring day across the league on Thursday, Friday’s games should follow a similar suit. Let’s roll with the superstars to start our new year off with a bang.

Check out the top NBA player prop picks for Friday, January 6 below. Good luck!

F Simone Fontecchio (UTA) OVER 0.5 STL

Not quite the superstar you were expecting, but Simone Fontecchio has been a dominant force for the Utah Jazz. Utah is on a three-game win streak while Fontecchio has played in 29+ minutes in each of these wins. The 6’7 forward is averaging a +11.8 during the last five outings while averaging 1.4 steals. With Boston allowing 7.7 SPG over their last three, look for Simone to produce another solid outing on the defensive end.

F Jayson Tatum (BOS) OVER 26.5 PTS

Tatum will look to end Utah’s streak by continuing his own shotmaking prowess. Tatum has put up 25 points in each of the last five games and will face a Utah defense allowing 118.8 PPG this season while struggling to stop shotmaking superstars like Tatum. With this game bound to be fast-paced and high-scoring, look for JT to take control as the best player on the floor.

F Jalen Johnson (ATL) OVER 29.5 PTS+REB+AST

A MIP candidate on the Hawks, Jalen Johnson has emerged as one of the best swingmen in the Eastern Conference. Since coming back from injury in late December, the do-it-all forward has hit this mark in three of four games while playing 29 or more minutes in each outing. He’s been given the green light from Quinn Synder with 10.7 FGA and 3.7 FTA per game during his comeback. With John Collins in Utah, Johnson has become an elite prop bet.

G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC) OVER 33.0 PTS

With the Thunder coming off two close games against the Celtics and Hawks, look for Shai and the offense to continue churning against a Nets defense allowing 116 PPG this season. Shai has put up 33 points in 6 of the last 7 outings with the one under coming against Brooklyn. With that being said, there may not be another game this season where the MVP candidate shoots the ball less than 16 times in a game. Look for OKC to dismantle this Brooklyn defense early and Shai to post his third straight 33 point game.

F Cam Johnson (BKN) OVER 2.5 3PM

The 3-point shooting specialist has hit this mark in four of the last five outings. With Oklahoma City allowing the 23rd most 3PM per game this season, the stars are aligned for Cam Johnson to make another impact from downtown, where he averages 2.6 3PM in ‘23-24. The Nets coming in as 5 ½ point underdogs in this home matchup might be good news for Johnson’s prop, as he shoots 45.5% from downtown in losses and just 38.2% in wins.
