NFL Week 7 Fantasy News

After a fairly uneventful previous week, the NFL’s Week 6 injury report took its toll on fantasy owners.

Multiple injuries on the same team – as well as a rookie QB being shut down for the remainder of the season – headline the woes fantasy owners face building their Week 7 lineups.

Who’s in and who’s out headlines the NFL Week 7 Fantasy News. Let's get into it!

Miami Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey Returns To Practice

Six-time Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey took to social media to announce his return to practice Wednesday.

Coming off the Injured Reserve (IR) list, Ramsey will have a three-week window to return to the field for the 2023 NFL season.

Fantasy Impact: The Miami Dolphins had used second-year CB Kader Kohou during Ramsey’s absence, meaning he’ll soon be relegated to reserve status. The upgrade at CB will help the Dolphins defense improve from its bottom 10 position in completion percentage as Miami currently yields almost 70% of opponents’ passes to be caught.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson Undergoes Season-Ending Surgery

Indianapolis is pulling the plug on Anthony Richardson’s season as the Colts rookie QB will undergo season-ending surgery for his right shoulder injury.

Both the team and the athlete jointly came to this decision as a way to protect their 2023 first round draft pick.

Fantasy Impact: Gardner Minshew will helm the offense in Richardson’s absence, allowing the veteran QB to show his worthiness for another NFL team. Expect the offense to remain focused on feeding RB Jonathan Taylor, especially after tendering the runner to a three-year, $42 million contract earlier this month.

Philadelphia Eagles Sign WR Julio Jones

The Philadelphia Eagles signed 12-year veteran WR Julio Jones on Tuesday, the team announced. The experienced Jones has caught 903 passes for 13,629 and 63 TDs during his career.

Jones is expected to be on Philadelphia’s practice squad when he joins the team Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Don’t expect Jones to immediately make noise for the Eagles. Philadelphia has two talented WRs in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but adding depth at that position is a smart move. Jones will likely be used as an insurance policy for a team looking to return to the Super Bowl this year.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Deebo Samuels Day-To-Day

Two tidbits for the price of one! In their Week 6 loss to Cleveland, San Francisco saw both RB Christian McCaffrey and WR Deebo Samuel come off the field due to injuries.

Samuel – who suffered a shoulder injury – was hurt during the game’s first play from scrimmage while McCaffrey’s rib injury happened during the third quarter.

Fantasy Impact: Fantasy owners for both players will have to monitor this situation Saturday to determine if either player will not start against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Expect both of these 49er weapons to be listed as questionable heading into the last Week 7 contest.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence Likely To Play Thursday

In a press conference Tuesday, Jacksonville QB Trevor Lawrence provided a welcomed update for his fantasy owners.

The former Clemson star told reporters his knee has shown vast improvement since suffering a left knee sprain during the third quarter of the Jaguars’ 37-20 victory over Indianapolis Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: The MRI Lawrence had on Monday revealed no damage, a promising sign for fantasy owners. In his last three outings, Lawrence has completed 70% of his passes for 703 yards and four TDs, a significant improvement over his first three starts of the season.

Lawrence’s matchup on Thursday against the New Orleans Saints and their sixth-ranked passing defense means owners could look for other options at QB this week. Even healthy, a short week against a strong opponent could be a tough matchup for the Jaguars QB.
