Broncos at Chargers: Top Player Props for Thursday Night

Week 16 of the NFL season is officially here! The year has gone by far too quickly for our liking, and there are only three more weeks for teams to try to make a playoff push. Several teams have already punched their tickets, leaving limited spots for the rest of the field to fill.
Tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup is between two playoff hopefuls, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Denver Broncos. If the season were to end today, both teams would make the postseason, but the Chargers are down one game in the standings to the Broncos.
A win tonight would help the Chargers nearly guarantee a postseason berth, but a loss could hurt their chances. With all that in mind and a lot on the line for both teams, let’s look at the player props from this game, all of which are found on Underdog.
Bo Nix OVER 1.5 Passing Touchdowns
We almost took the over on Bo Nix’s passing yards line but thought better of it due to the Chargers’ staunch defense against the pass. They are one of the best defenses in the league in terms of passing yards allowed, and Nix could struggle to get over 223 yards in this game.
However, we do like his odds of throwing for at least two touchdowns in this game, especially since the Broncos haven’t had great luck in the red zone from their running backs. They might help Nix get down within the 20 yard-line, but look for the rookie QB to seal the deal, throwing for at least two touchdown passes in this one.
Justin Herbert UNDER 13.5 Rushing Yards
Justin Herbert is projected to start this game, despite suffering ankle and thigh injuries in last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chargers need him to step up a lot in this must-win game, but we believe that he’ll have a lot more success in the air than on the ground.
He could treat his injuries gingerly, especially against a tricky Broncos pass-rush, limiting his propensity to take off on the run. Look for Herbert to have few rushing attempts in this game, if any, going under his 13.5-yard projection.
Cameron Dicker OVER 1.5 Made Field Goals
Cameron Dicker might be one of the most well-known kickers in the NFL, if for nothing more than because of his name. He has been steady for the Chargers all season and one of the most consistent players at the position all year.
With that in mind, we like his chances of hitting the over on his field goal line in this one, especially if Herbert’s first few drives don’t result in touchdowns.
