Lions at Niners: Lock Up Our Best Player Prop Picks for the NFC Title Game

In a historic matchup, the No. 3 seed Detroit Lions (14-5) head to Levi Stadium to face off against the No. 1 seed San Francisco 49ers (13-5) in the NFC Championship game Sunday evening.

This has been a history-making season for the Lions. For the first time since 1991, Detroit is playing in the NFC Championship game. The Lions won the NFC North division for the first time in more than three decades en route to the most wins Detroit has recorded in a single season.

For San Francisco, this trip to the NFC Championship game is the fourth in five years. Only once – in 2019 – have the 49ers earned the coveted Super Bowl berth. San Francisco fans are anticipating their team’s third trip to the Super Bowl in less than 12 years in a rematch of the past two teams that have beaten them in the finale.

With so much on the line for both teams, which players can fans – and bettors alike – expect to make a difference this weekend? We’ll reveal that and our best player prop bets as we cover the Detroit Lions taking on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.

Lions QB Jared Goff UNDER 258.5 Passing Yards

Three years ago, the Los Angeles Rams traded former top draft pick QB Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions for current QB Matthew Stafford. While Stafford won the Super Bowl in his first season, Goff fumed while hoping to avenge the slight from his former team.

In the Wild Card, Goff did just that by earning a 24-23 win over the Rams. Now, Goff will take aim at the Super Bowl by defeating San Francisco for only the third time in his career and first time since 2018.

To do so, Goff will contend with a defense that picked off 24 passes this season, including nine over the team’s last six games. The 49ers have also held eight of their past 10 opponents to under 259 passing yards, leaving bettors confident Goff will perform under this player prop bet mark.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey UNDER 86.5 Rushing Yards

With MVP-type numbers, San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has enjoyed one of his best seasons in the NFL. The tailback recorded 1,456 yards rushing and 14 TDs this season while also notching 564 receiving yards and seven scores through the air.

This week’s opponent is among the toughest San Francisco has faced all season. Only one team in the last 12 tries has rushed for more than 86 yards against the Lions – Minnesota in Week 18.

Other than that, the Lions’ defense has been stout against the run all season. Expect them to hold McCaffrey under the 86.5 rushing yards total needed to cover this player prop bet.

Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs OVER 22.5 Receiving Yards

In his debut season, Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs lived up to his preseason billing. The former Alabama athlete recorded 945 rushing yards on 182 carries, scoring 10 TDs on the ground. Through the air, Gibbs caught 52 of his 71 targets for 316 yards and another score.

In back-to-back playoff games, the Lions have found Gibbs out of the backfield four times in each contest. For both games, Gibbs finished with above 40 yards receiving to showcase his receiving abilities.

Expect Detroit to continue to target Gibbs this weekend, eclipsing the 22.5 receiving yards mark needed to cover this player prop bet.
