Our DraftKings Fantasy Lineup for NFL Week 1

While taking game scripts and matchups into account, let’s carefully craft our Week 1 lineup to add a fair amount of high-ceiling and high-floor players.

Buying into the Jacksonville Jaguars' offense against the Colts will be key in the 1st week as they look to build off their successful 2022 campaign.

Grabbing Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk gives us two key playmakers from one of the more potent offenses in the league in what could be PPR heaven against Pittsburgh.

QB Trevor Lawrence: JAX vs IND ($6,500)

It isn’t a Week 1 lineup without adding Trevor Lawrence to your squad. A potential MVP candidate this upcoming season, T-LAW and Doug Pederson should start where they left off with Lawrence slinging it every which way and relying on newcomer Calvin Ridley to come down with a few huge gains.

The Indianapolis defense has a strong front but displays noticeable holes in the secondary. We are expecting Travis Etienne to be shut down through the middle of the field, leaving Trevor to toss it about 35 to 40 times in this matchup.

Last season, he finished as the QB12 and QB4 in the Jags’ matchups against the Colts. Look for Trevor to torch them this season starting Week 1.

RB Christian McCaffrey: SF vs PIT ($8,700)

Looking at the RB value, there aren’t many automatic hits outside of the top three dogs in CMC, Ekeler, Chubb, and Bijan Robinson.

While McCaffrey’s salary weighs in at a mighty $8,700, running a Hero-RB lineup is the way to go in every fantasy format this season between DFS, Fantasy Football drafts, and Best Ball Drafts.

Heading back to last season, Christian was virtually matchup-proof. With Brock Purdy in at QB against the gauntlet of a Steelers defensive group, expect quite a bit of check-downs to the All-Pro RB. With around 20 expected touches, I’m selecting CMC in all my lineups.

RB Devon Achane: MIA vs LAC ($4,900)

The 3rd round draft pick didn’t find himself in the friendliest RB situation with Mike McDaniel and Miami. However, the fact that the ‘Fins didn’t sign Zeke Elliott nor Dalvin Cook is a great sign for the rookie who should help Tua out in the short passing game, especially Week 1 in what could easily become a shootout.

A player with blazing speed, we are taking a shot on a big play from Achane to bring us elite value as our RB2. Without many viable options outside of Waddle and Hill, Achane is a fantastic value play, especially in a game that could result in 60 total points or more between the two high powered offenses.

WR Calvin Ridley: JAX vs IND ($5,600)

Obsessing over the stacking tactic, our first involves the newly added wideout Ridley. The former Falcon has had a fantastic training camp and the buzz around him propelling this offense to the next level is at an all-time high.

Against a sub-par Indianapolis secondary, expect the T-LAW/Ridley combo to get going early, especially as he’ll run routes in the slot, outside the numbers, and be a top red zone option early on.

WR Christian Kirk: JAX vs IND ($5,600)

Sticking with the Jaguars offense, Christian Kirk is a safe Week 1 play. Damaging defenses mostly from the slot, Kirk finished as the WR7 and WR35 in both his matchups against the Colts last season.

After two strong playoff performances that resulted in 28 total targets and 2 TDs, don’t write Kirk off yet just because of an additional playmaker on this uber-talented roster.

WR Brandon Aiyuk: SF vs PIT ($4,900)

Aiyuk has been the talk of fantasy this offseason, as Shanahan, the 49ers playmakers, and experts have raved about the 4th year WR.

Searching for a new contract soon, expect the elite playmaker to receive a fair amount of the target share as this game could be won from inside the numbers, where Brandon does most of his damage.

If the 49ers score on offense, it’s likely CMC or Aiyuk is on the receiving end. Because of this, it’s a smart play to pair the RB with either Deebo, Aiyuk, or Kittle depending on the amount of trust and salary you want to put into the pass catchers.

TE Chigoziem Okonkwo: TEN vs NO ($3,800)

Okonkwo finished with 10 or more fantasy points in four out of the last six affairs last season.

As the TE1 on the depth chart with only Hopkins and Burks in front of him based on projected target share in Week 1, I’m banking on Chiggy to get open in spaces as a player that is more athletic than the LBs, bigger than safeties, and a viable red zone target with starting reps this offseason.

At just a $3,800 salary, I’m buying Chiggy against the Saints before this number skyrockets later in the season.

FLEX Chris Godwin: TB vs MIN ($5,900)

Godwin is taking a step back this season without Brady at Quarterback. However, in a game where the Bucs should get down early against the Vikings, we are entrusting in the positive game script for Godwin to finish as a top receiver in PPR formats this week.

With Mike Evans utilized more as a deep ball threat throughout the years and Rachaad White just coming along as a pass catcher out of the backfield, expect Godwin to lead the way in targets against Minnesota, finishing with double digits.

He might not be the sexiest flex play, but a smart one in PPR formats.

DST Falcons: CAR vs ATL ($3,200)

Rookie QB. Sub-par offensive line. Lack of weapons on the outside. With Atlanta’s improved defense, this could be a statement game from the first snap.

Calais Campbell, Bud Dupree, and Jessie Bates highlight a defense that could finish as the top defensive option in Week 1.

If you aren’t selecting the Ravens defense against Houston due to the increased salary, grab the Falcons defense against a struggling O Line in Carolina.
