Our Top NFL Week 2 Player Props for Sunday, September 16
Looking ahead to Week 2’s Underdog props, we can bank on a few rough-running Running Backs to make more of an impact for their squads in King Henry and Jamaal Williams.
As for our favorite prop of the week, take Deebo Samuel to absolutely destroy the Rams' secondary as the San Francisco 49ers continue their dominant offensive run led by Brock Purdy. Stay tuned for our full Sunday prop article and MNF picks later this week!
RB Derrick Henry (TEN) OVER 87.5 RUSH YDS
The Titans vs Saints Week 1 battle proved to be the most physical of last weekend, with both teams getting absolutely nothing to click offensively. However, as we head into Week 2, the Titans know that King Henry is still their focal point and more importantly, that the Chargers defense is prone to letting up big plays.
Henry hit this over nine times last season and would have gone over in Week 1 if not for the stifling Saints defense that limited him to just 63 yards. Mike Vrabel is one of the best coaches after a loss, so expect this game to be close and for Henry to get back on track with a 100-yard game.
QB Desmond Ridder (ATL) UNDER 190.5 PASS YDS
The Atlanta Falcons might be the only team in the league that’s able to win ball games without throwing the football. Playing almost like a military school in college, the team put up 130 total rush yards in Week 1, not to mention both RBs making a huge impact in the receiving game.
As for Ridder, the 2nd year QB just doesn’t look ready to make a huge impact yet. As a game manager, it’ll be difficult for him to hit anywhere near the 200-yard mark, especially against above-average defensive units.
Green Bay limited Justin Fields to just 189 yards last week, most of which came in garbage time. Expect Ridder to utilize his checkdowns more so than taking shots down the field against a great Green Bay defense, hitting his “under” on Sunday.
RB Josh Jacobs (LV) OVER 65.5 RUSH YDS
Jacobs had a rather quiet Week 1 given his 21 total touches. Heading to Buffalo, who just got run over by the New York Jets, expect the Raiders game plan to allow for Jacobs to carry the rock 20+ times as they look to keep the ball out of Josh Allen’s hands as much as possible.
The Bills allowed the fourth-most yards on the ground thanks to a few big runs by Breece Hall. Win or lose, Jacobs might be matchup-proof because of the amount of volume he should receive week in and week out.
65.5 yards is extremely manageable for one of the best backs in the game who should get 20+ touches against a sub-par rush defense.
WR Deebo Samuel (SF) OVER 53.5 REC YDS
My favorite prop of the week, Deebo Samuel is a Ram killer. The Swiss-army knife has averaged 101 yards through the air in five career regular-season matchups against LA.
While Brandon Aiyuk stole the show as Brock Purdy’s WR1 in Week 1 in Pittsburgh, I’m banking on Samuel to regain that title in SoFi stadium just a week after WR1 Tyreek Hill displayed one of the better performances we’ll see all season.
The Rams defense did a solid job against Seattle, but given Shanahan’s plus record against McVay and the way the 9ers offense has been churning since the Brock Purdy takeover, I’m pushing all my chips into the San Francisco offense once again.
QB Daniel Jones (NYG) OVER 35.5 RUSH YDS
Yes, I’m taking a New York Giant “over” in Week 2. Yes, I’m also scared to do this. Panic meter-wise, the nation is about to hit the button on New York and what turned out to be one of the worst statistical performances of all time in a 40-0 loss to Dallas.
Daniel Jones looked like a deer in headlights, and everything went wrong from the first to the last snap of the game. As for Daboll fixing the game plan for Week 2, expect more early roll-outs, early play action, and Jones to use his legs in the red zone against a bottom-tier Arizona defense.
DJ hit this 36-yard mark seven times last season, most of the time against worse teams. While the Cardinals only held Washington to 92 yards on the ground, a mobile Quarterback in Jones should give the linebacker room issues all Sunday.
RB Jamaal Williams (NO) OVER 55.5 RUSH YDS
Similar to Derrick Henry, Jamaal Williams would have gone over this mark in Week 1 if he wasn’t playing one of the most physical teams in football. Williams led the Saints in carries with 18 with Alvin Kamara sidelined due to suspension.
Looking at the Panthers, they just allowed 130 rushing yards to Atlanta and looked extremely beatable on the ground. While Chris Olave and Michael Thomas should make their usual impacts against a decimated secondary, Jamaal Williams should be able to put this game out of reach via his tough running. Give me 70+ yards and a score for one of the more exciting RBs in the league.
