Top 4 Value Goalie Picks For Tonight’s NHL 10-Game Slate

A packed 10-game NHL slate tonight gives DFS managers tons of great options, but finding value between the pipes can make all the difference in your lineup. With 20 netminders taking the crease tonight, we found 4 goalies who stand out for their combination of salary, matchup, and recent form.

These are the best picks if you’re looking to save a little cash but not risk losing out on fantasy points.

Name Team Salary Projected Fantasy Points Value
C. Hellebuyck Winnipeg Jets $7.8k 14.4 1.85
John Gibson Anaheim Ducks $7.3k 12.5 1.71
Y. Askarov San Jose Sharks $7.1k 12.1 1.70
P. Kochetkov Carolina Hurricanes $8.5k 14.1 1.66

Connor Hellebuyck — Winnipeg Jets

Connor Hellebuyck has been one of the most reliable goaltenders this season — across the league. Tonight’s matchup against Boston won’t be any different. Hellebuyck offers elite value at $7.8K when he’s projected to rack up around 14.4 points. That’s good for a 1.85 value rating in an area we don’t see too much value.

While Boston is undoubtedly a tough opponent, Hellebuyck’s recent play shows he’s more than capable of handling the challenge of stonewalling the Bruins.

Over his last 10 starts, Hellebuyck has racked up a solid 7-2-0 record with a 2.00 GAA and a .917 SV%. His consistency shines through, as he’s only allowed more than 2 goals twice in January which is something not too many goalies can boast. That includes a stellar 25-save performance in a 4-1 win over Montreal earlier this week.

The Jets have been playing excellent team defense lately as well. They’ve allowed Hellebuyck to face manageable shot volumes and keep the high-danger SOG to a minimum.

While Boston does bring some firepower, Hellebuyck’s $7.8K salary makes him a perfect mid-range play with upside in a game where he could steal the show.

John Gibson — Anaheim Ducks

John Gibson is a low-cost netminder at $7.3K with a strong value rating of 1.71 for tonight’s matchup against a flailing Calgary.

While Gibson’s season stats — 8-8-2 with a 2.76 GAA and a .914 SV% — might not jump off the page, he’s coming off 2 solid games, including a 31-save effort in a 5-1 win over Pittsburgh. Even in their 3-0 loss to Florida, he made 42 saves on 42 shots which was good for a .955 SV%.

Anaheim isn’t a defensive powerhouse, of course, which means Gibson is often tasked with facing high shot volumes like he did in Florida. This can work in your favor for DFS purposes, as it raises his save totals and ultimately his save percentage. His January numbers simply highlight his ability to weather storms and deliver massive fantasy points, even when Anaheim struggles to close out games.

Facing Calgary, a team that has been relatively inconsistent offensively, Gibson could be in line for another strong performance, and at his salary, he’s a value-packed option. For those looking to save cap space without sacrificing potential upside, Gibson is a solid pick for your lineup.

Yaroslav Askarov — San Jose Sharks

We all know that goalies are inherently expensive and rarely put up massive numbers, so, if you’re looking to go even cheaper for your netminder, Yaroslav Askarov at $7.1K is a high-risk, high-reward play with a 1.70 value rating.

The 22-year-old Sharks netminder is coming off a magnificent 29-save effort in a 2-1 win over Pittsburgh, and he’s been showing some flashes of brilliance despite playing behind a struggling San Jose squad.

In January alone, Askarov posted a respectable 2.87 GAA and .905 SV%, with 2 games where he allowed just a single goal. While his floor is lower due to San Jose’s defensive lapses, his ceiling is what caught our eye against a Seattle team that doesn’t always convert their scoring chances.

At $7.1K, Askarov is undeniably a bold choice. However, his low salary frees up cap space for spending big on high-scoring skaters. For GPP formats, he’s a sneaky value option you might want to add to your lineup.

Pyotr Kochetkov — Carolina Hurricanes

Pyotr Kochetkov has been rock-solid for the Hurricanes and is projected for a whopping 14.1 fantasy points tonight. That puts him at 2 of 20 netminders when it comes to projections.

Priced at $8.5K, his 1.66 value rating is the lowest on this list, but his recent form and favorable matchup against one of the worst teams in the NHL — Chicago — make him a strong play.

In January, Kochetkov went 5-2-1 with a 2.37 GAA and .913 SV%. That, of course, included some solid teams they were up against. He’s coming off a 33-save outing against the Islanders, and before that, he recorded a 40-save shutout versus the smoking-hot Minnesota. The Cane’s sturdy defense minimizes high-danger chances, making Kochetkov’s job a bit easier.

Against Chicago, one of the league’s worst offensive teams, Kochetkov has a great chance to notch another win.

Sure, his salary is higher than the others on this list, but his floor is arguably the safest. This makes him a reliable anchor in both cash games and GPPs.

Lock in these Goalies for Your DFS Lineup

For tonight’s mega-slate, Hellebuyck is the clear standout. He balances affordability with elite consistency. Gibson offers a nice mix of value and potential, while Askarov is a low-cost gamble for GPPs. Kochetkov is a bit pricier but steady option against an overmatched Chicago squad where he could really rack up some fantasy points.

Whether you’re saving salary for expensive all-star skaters or locking in a reliable goalie, you can’t go wrong with any of these 4 options.
